Our People
Partner: Stephen Tonn
is Compass Consulting's founder and has over 20 years of hands-on information systems
and IT audit experience, with many years in the financial services industry. Prior to founding
Compass Group Consultants, he served as an IS audit manager for a $40
billion savings and loan. Stephen holds the CISA and CIA designations,
and has a BBA in Banking and Finance from the University of North Texas.
He is active in professional organizations and has served as the San
Antonio Information Systems Audit and Control Association chapter president
for the past two years. Stephen is also a past president of the Dallas/Fort
Worth ISACA chapter.
Senior Audit & Compliance Consultant: Janet Hecker has over 25 years of banking experience with
extensive involvement in day-to-day bank operations and information technology. Janet is very familiar with managing bank
compliance against internal policies and with regulatory requirements. She regularly liaised with bank examiners, and is
very comfortable with executive management or board-level reporting relationships. Just prior to joining Compass Consulting
Group, Janet was the Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of a $170M Texas-based community bank where she had
responsibility for Information Technology, Data Processing, Loan Administration, Deposit Operations, and Lobby Services.
Janet also served two years on the Precision Computer Systems Executive Advisory Board.
Director of Business Development: Jeannine McConnell has over 25 years of experience as
an information technology professional. Working initially as a software developer, then lead
developer and senior analyst of commercial payroll and human resource applications in the utility
industry, she then migrated to software design and project management. Her desire to manage
high quality software releases led to hands-on experience in software configuration management,
quality management and process engineering. Jeannine’s solid technology foundation has
allowed her to mentor numerous Fortune 100 companies in project management certification,
requirements management and software development best practices, as well as to perform
software process assessments. More recently Jeannine has focused on sales and marketing of
complex software solutions, and she spent the last several years working in the check conversion
and processing industry. She holds degrees in Computer Science, Business, and
Communications and has earned the Project Management Institute’s distinguished Project
Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Senior IT Audit & Network Security Consultant: Thomas Buchanan
is a Technology Consultant with nearly 10 years of experience and hands-on knowledge.
His prior experience includes UNIX system administration duties for a large
web hosting company, and network security assessments as an independent
contractor. Thomas specializes in network and operating system security.
He conducts technical audits and network security engineering, testing
and assessments for a variety of clients, as well as serving as the
firm's system administrator and web master.
